Holistic means the mind, body and spirit’s connection to health and wellness. The holistic philosophy is one that treats the whole rather than examining its parts as if they were separate entities; it’s not just the physical and the symptoms. In other words, there are some activities, ways of thinking, and ways of living that do harm to the whole body and its entire being. Psychological and emotional factors can create bad eating habits, weight issues, illnesses and stress. Stress alone can create a multitude of health woes to the entire body and well-being.
My goal as a certified Holistic Health Counselor is to help bring awareness that the nutrition we receive from food is really just a secondary source of energy. It’s the "primary" foods that feed us. A true holistic approach to life incorporates things that nourish you other than food.They are the enjoyable factors in life such as a favorite physical activity, an inspiring career, loving relationships and a stress-free lifestyle. All constitute primary foods that feed our soul and our hunger for living.
The enemy is not necessarily the foods on our plates, but based on what's going on in our lives and inside us! The more primary foods we receive, the less dependence on secondary food thus creating emotional eating, cravings etc. As your Health Counselor, I will work with you to help you find balance in both primary foods and the foods you eat on a daily basis.
